Randomish

Here are some thoughts I have had on my mind and I wanted to write them down for family journal purposes-

-On Thursday I put money into savings for the first time since James left Codale. I don't care that it was only $150.00, it is still something.

-We are officially weaning. I am not sure how I feel about this yet. Nursing a baby for 13 months and then going to nothing, well makes your boobs hurt. He was only nursing about once a day, but he hasn't since Wednesday morning and WOWZERS, I am feeling it. I heard it can last about a week before I feel comfortable again so I am counting down. I can't believe we did it! I probably would have done it sooner if he had taken formula (which he never ever did) but I scared him off the bottle and we've had our ups and downs with cows milk. He's not the greatest eater either so I always felt good that he was getting something. Now I'll probably get pregnant and nurse another baby til a year, and then get pregnant again and nurse, and my body will not be my own til I am 30! The things we do for our precious kids!

-I've decided I am not so much a dog person anymore. I like other people's dogs but not my own. It could be the shedding (and Jake doesn't even shed that bad, I've just been noticing it more). It could be that James chased him with the vacuum and he put some nice scratches into my hardwood floor. It could be that he's figured out how to share treats with Jax. Or it could be all the mouth kissing that Jax has been doing with him lately.

-Clarissa is getting married this weekend! Wow! It came really quick. I am sure not for her, but I can't believe its already here.

-James new job is FANTASTIC! He works 4 on 4 off, but he is getting quicker so things are going a lot faster which I appreciate as I am sure his co-workers do. He leaves our house at 6am and is usually home by 8pm. Not to bad considering the 4 days off.

-I am deal shopping for Christmas and I have been having a lot of fun! Wouldn't it be awesome if I could do all my Christmas shopping for around $200.00?

-Jax can shake his head no or nod his head yes when you ask him a question. And so far his answers have been pretty spot on. "Are you supposed to be doing that?" and he shakes his head no. "Is it time to go in your crib for nap?" and he nods yes. What a smart kid. We also taught him where is eye and nose are at. And he can point to our eyes and noses too. Poor Jake. He gets jabbed in the eye or his nose scratched off constantly. All while Jax says to him in the highest pitched voice, "hi Jake!"

-Jax is sick again. His lingering cough now has some force behind it again and the nose is a runny mess again. Luckily he's been eating and acting normal so I don't think its anything to serious.

Should we tell him?

Jax is a daredevil and loves it when you throw him or spin him. We were having a lot of fun last night with him! We would throw him in the air and then when we were tired he would practice "jumping". He's actually been practicing all day long, but has yet to get some air. Should we tell him he really isn't jumping? Probably not, he is to cute to discourage.

What Matters?

Jax is walking AND dancing!

Jax has started the journey into big-boy-hood. The week before we got sick (12 months 2 weeks) he really started trying to walk but he just couldn't get it down. Then we got the sickness at 12 months 3 weeks and he barely crawled that week. Then at 13 months he took off and is walking everywhere now! I really don't know why people say that once your kid starts walking they will be in to everything. Jax was already into everything by crawling to it and then standing up. But one thing that has changed is that he thinks he needs to be down on the floor now anywhere we go. He was a nightmare this past weekend when I went to Pleasant Grove for Clarissa's bridal shower. I braved Olive Garden with my mom and sis and Jax was very naughty. I considered leaving him as a tip. He has developed quite the attitude and screams when he doesn't get his way. Hopefully he'll get over that soon because I don't like it one bit.

Since Jax has been walking I have been trying to teach him how to dance. He is finally getting it and will tap his leg, clap, and bounce up and down when he hears music. He still doesn't have his appetite back apparently because the kid won't eat. And he has also decided he doesn't like milk again. That's very frustrating because before he got sick he was drinking it all the time and only nursing once a day when he would wake up in the morning. Now he is pulling at my shirt and crying when I tell him no. I am still looking at nursing til 13 months an accomplishment and not a wierd thing to do. I remember thinking at 3 months that I couldn't wait to be done, but it gets so much easier when they only nurse a couple times a day for 5 minutes and are done. He is still obsessed with his dog and can say hi jake. He says hi jake to any animal he sees. His new thing is kissing, but he has to do it on his own terms. There will be times where he just kisses over and over and over and I love it. Other times he pushes my face away and screams.

We are DONE sleep training. TOTALLY WORTH IT! Jax now lays in his crib for bedtime or naptime and he falls right to sleep as he listens to the Metallica baby cd we got him.

James new job is going great! He is doing a fantastic job and we are very proud of him! We don't see him for 4 days at a time, but we love the 4 days off in a row! We are doing a very very lean Christmas this year. I would recomend going over to frugalityville.blogspot.com and reading her post she just wrote on Christmas. She has great tips about not going into debt over Christmas. I can't beleive that we are t-minus 2 1/2 weeks til Thanksgiving and 45 days til Christmas! Good luck with your Christmas shopping!

Sorry Jack! Chucky's Back!

James has dreamed and dreamed of dressing up his child as Chucky from Child's Play since I was pregnant. Jax was only a month old last Halloween so he had to wait until this year to be Chucky. Now, usually James and I go ALL out for Halloween. We have our house decorated inside and out. Well, not this year. James put up some Halloween decor, (and yes that is our Halloween rug that James made) but with his new job and working 75-80 hours a week, he really hasn't felt up to it. But we had a plan to dress up as zombies and dress Jax up as Chucky and have a fun Halloween. James worked on Jax's costume for hours! He had to take the shirt in to make it fit Jax and spruce up the over alls. We were so BUMMED when we found out James had to work tonight. So I did the best I could at doing his hair and makeup (HE WOULD NOT SIT STILL!!!) and we took James dinner at work and went trick or treating in Vernal. Jax had a good time and liked walking around with his bloody knife (nice I know). He was so pooped and could barely get through his bath tonight. He was out like a light the second I laid him in his crib. So all in all it was a good night. I miss my husband terribly but his new schedule is 4 on 4 off, so that will be so nice to have all that time with him! I can't wait to see him on Tuesday and go on our hot date! I hope everyone had a wonderful night and got lots of yummy candy!!

Blah

Its amazing how fast your schedule goes out in a cloud of dust when you are sick. We have been very sick this week at our house. I caught Jax's bug on Tuesday night and been miserable ever since. We spent the afternoon in the ER yesterday after I called the nurse at the doctor's office and she told me that since I couldn't wake Jax up, and he wasn't drinking I needed to take him to the ER. My wonderful neighbor and friend Sonja, drove us up there and was a major help to me. She held Jax and comforted him, took him for his chest X-ray, and helped the nurses draw blood. His x-ray came back a little hazy, but his test results were normal which actually surprised me. I thought that since he hadn't eaten since Sunday and hadn't been drinking that they would for sure be putting an IV into him. He said its most likely swine flu and sent us on our way. Apparently you can only take tami flu if its within the first 48 hours of being sick and we were past that. Jax is doing a little (and I mean little) bit better today. His cough is horrendous and his nose is a running faucet. We layed on the couch all day and it was nice to snuggle with him.

My house is a joke. I've got three loads of laundry to be folded and my floors need to be vacuumed. I doubt I'll get to it until I'm feeling better. Its all I could do tonight to get Jax bathed and in bed and myself bathed.

I haven't seen or talked to James for more than 10 minutes since Tuesday. He has been working 16 hour days. I guess thats good because it lessens his chance of getting sick. I know he wants to be here, but I would honestly rather him be gone.

Do like they say, wash your hands, sanitize your carts, and try not to be around sick people. This bug we've got is the pitts!

Jax's first time and James' first time

On Sunday night I knew something was up with Jax. I put him in his high chair to eat dinner and he wouldn't take one bite. He was groggy and sad acting. I put him to bed early thinking he was just tired. Well at about 1:00 that morning he was up and he was ON FIRE. He was drenched in sweat and if I had to guess he had a temp of at least 103. Our thermometer somehow went through the wash a couple weeks back so I didn't know for sure. His heart was racing too and he just wasn't acting like himself. I gave him so Tylenol and he gulped down a sippy of milk I had in the fridge. He was in the bed with me from that point on and I had to hold him to sleep which meant I slept sitting up. That totally isn't Jax. He wants to be in his crib to sleep where he has his own space. He was up again at 2,3,4,5 and then got about a 2 1/2 hour stretch of sleep until 8:00 when I had to get myself out of bed to get ready to go to work. I took Jax next door to drop him off to Liz and we took his temp (while he gulped down a whole sippy of apple juice) and it was 102 point something. I then decided with the help from Liz that it was probably best for me to not go to work and to try and get Jax in to the doctor. I talked to the nurse and she said to alternate Tylenol and Motrin every 3 hours and to watch for signs of labored breathing. She didn't seem concerned about the runny nose, fever, grogginess, or cough. So I was completely un-reassured and decided I would just try to call my dad who was hunting with James. He had a phone signal on Friday night so I was thinking maybe I could leave him a message and he would get it and tell James. I was kind of a mess due to the no sleep and it being Jax's very first time being sick. So I called. And it was a miracle. My dad answered and I asked to talk to James. I told James that Jax was very sick and that I had just taken his temp and it was high. I was looking for reassurance and I wanted to know when he might be coming home. He told me that he hadn't shot anything yet (but he'd passed up a lot of bucks that weren't what he was looking for) but that my dad and Adam had already shot their deer. This hunt that James drew out on is the Book Cliffs hunt and it is limited entry so you are lucky to draw a tag once every 5-10 years. I knew I couldn't ask James to come home empty handed. I told him to please shoot the next thing he saw and it was about then that he lost the cell signal. Apparently they were in the very bottom of a canyon where you would never guess to have service. They pulled around the corner and out of a hay field ran a 4 point buck. James jumped out of the jeep, and shot it perfectly. Right through the shoulder, lungs, and heart. He shot the deer and 9:30 and was home by 3:00. I would classify that as a blessing. I needed James and he needed his deer. We were both very blessed yesterday. Jax's fever is down to about 101 and his cough is much more flemmy now. He is crying a lot more today and whining which I am taking as a good sign since yesterday he just layed on the couch in and out of sleep. He hasn't eaten anything since lunch on Sunday but he is drinking juice and nursing so that's better then nothing. So that is the story of Jax's first time being sick and James' first deer kill.
